Because you are on a cruise ship then your home life and leisure life are also on the ship, it’s not like a normal job where you come home from work and have a different home life, you are on board the ship morning noon and night except for the occasional bit of shore leave, so it’s important that you make some friends on board that you can socialise with, your sleeping quarters will most likely be a small inside cabin that you share with a couple of other people doing the same sort of job as you, some people get their own single cabin but these are usually managers or senior members of staff. The staff accommodation is split depending on what your job is, so for example if you work in the kitchen you will be with other kitchen staff, sometimes it will also be split into different nationalitys so all the english might be on one floor and all the french on another etc, the better job title you have the higher up in the ship your cabin will be, if you are unskilled or maintenance staff then your cabin will be below the water line and it will be a bit cramped so if you do have a skill of some sort then make sure you use it and you will get a better cabin on the cruise ship.

Food for staff onboard ship is good and will be eaten in the mess hall but best of all its free but you have to pay for any alcohol and the price of that on board ship is expensive, you will get to see the same movies and shows as the passengers and will have access to the gym and swimming pools but most staff tend to just relax when they are not working so a lot of the sports equipment lies unused because working on a cruise ship can be hard work.
